So I’ve been posting about electric vehicles for quite a while. This time around, I’ll be focusing on Guy Negre’s brainchild called the MDI. Years of failures simply can’t put this guy down and after attempting to sell his compressed-air cars everywhere, he finally hit the X-mark. Basically, Negre’s cars run on his patented compressed-air technology system. Fundamentally, it works by having the piston powered by compressed air.
Negre’s first model called the MiniCat can be powered by a single-energy compressed engine. That’s enough to give the MiniCat 25 horsepower and a top speed of 68 mph. Just like electric vehicles, compressed-air vehicles like the MiniCat has a limited range. The MiniCat is reportedly able to cover a 125-mile range and the best part is, you can refill gas in just a few minutes.
If you’re not content with its current range though, you can use its dual-energy feature that lets it use both fuel and diesel. In essence, that system makes the MiniCat more like a hybrid vehicle at the same time. So if you want to go somewhere farther than the city, you simply switch to dual mode to make it happen.
