The Chevy Volt Electric Car: Ten Things You Oughta Know ( Part 2)

Last time, I talked about what the Chevy Volt Electric Car can offer to the table if you’re deeply considering buying one. So we’re down to the last five things that you should know about this concept car from General Motors called the Chevy Volt Electric Car and here they are:

5. The Chevy Volt Electric Car has a varying MPG

Since the Chevy Volt Electric Car is a plug-in vehicle, its MPG number depends on how far the gasoline operates in order to provide electricity to the batteries. Truth is, this car can give you an MPG rating that can go as low as 60 MPG or as high as 150 MPG. The secret is to simply make sure that your batteries are charged fully and the gasoline tanks full.

4. The Chevy Volt Electric Car is undergoes rigid tests all the time

Basically, the Chevy Volt Electric Car is merely at the conceptual stage. Nevertheless, tests and quality control are always conducted in order to make sure that it becomes the best electric vehicle ever manufactured. Initially, the Chevy Volt Electric Car used nickel-metal-hydride batteries but eventually, these were replaced by lithium-ion batteries. That’s because lithium-ion batteries can retain more electricity, while being tougher at the same time.

3.The Chevy Volt Electric Car is all about sleek looks

Truth is, any EV out there is a sleek vehicle that can compete with high-end cars in terms of looks. Basically, the Chevy Volt Electric Car is built to maximize its aerodynamic ability. That’s because it has undergone serious tunnel testing that weren’t done on other cars manufactured by General Motors.

2. Let’s go to the cost

People will buy an electric car because it offsets all the money that you need to dole out for all the gas that you’ll save. However, because of the entire electrical system is different from regular cars, they are naturally more expensive. When it comes to the Chevy Volt Electric Car, its manufacturer claims that it will cost around 30,000 USD. With this price, I wouldn’t be surprised if people end up picking this car like hot potato.

1.So when will the Chevy Volt Electric Car be released?

General Motors claims that the Chevy Volt Electric Car will already be done by 2010. It was also announced that will be first shown at the LA auto show for its first public appearance. With that being said, I’m sure that a lot of people will show up to see what this car is all about.

Getting the most out of every drop of fuel in these trying times is a must. Because of that, it’s understandable that EVs such as the Chevy Volt Electric Car will garner so much attention once introduced on the market. It’s cheap and all indications show that it’s tough while having great loks at the same time.

  1. Car Advice Says:

Another thought on reading the second part of your “things to think about” list: It is different. Seriously, the way this car is powered is different from the other hybrids out there. Different can be really good if it works out as well as GM hopes, or really, seriously bad, if it doesn’t.

I think a lot of people will really like the Chevy Volt as it sits, and I see aftermarket add-ons coming that will improve it much further.
